Packing for a Camping Trip?

Use a checklist every time you pack, it will help you get organized. Start by adding items you wish you had brought last trip and be sure to avoid what you brought last trip but didn't use. Think about how many days and nights you’ll be away, the activities you'll be enjoying, the forecast and pack accordingly. The key to remember is bring what you’ll need but do not over pack. Make sure you pack as small as you can using smaller items like socks or underwear to fill in small gaps in your backpack, suitcase or duffle bag. Put bottles of shampoo, insect repellent or other liquids in sealed plastic bags to prevent leaks or spills.

Unpacking from a Camping Trip?

When you're packing up and heading home be sure to wipe off your gear and ensure everything is removed from your tent's pockets. Roll your sleeping bag and stuff it into its storage bag to prevent creasing it and creating cold spots in its insulation. When you get home, air out your tent before putting it back into storage. If possible, hang your sleeping bag to store it rather than keeping it in the stuff sack. Once everything is put away remember to write down anything you forgot and anything you brought but didn’t use. This is the beginning of your next checklist and you are ready to start packing for your next camping trip.
